After a quick stop at the big orange (I thought it would be like the Big Apple on the 401 but, alas, no), for the last poutine (really, this time it's the last) and an Orange Julip. This drink was the inspiration for the famous Orange Julius and it was creamy, tangy, refreshing goodness. We hopped into our trusty Camry and were off to Brighton for a quick visit with Grandma and Grandad. We were all very excited for a couple of days of downtime in the country visiting with our family. We arrived after a very uneventful drive to a very warm welcome from Becca, Carol and Grandma and Grandad! Becca immediately put her babysitting skills to work on Natalie (hallelujah) and we gratefully accepted a G&T - I could feel my shoulders getting more relaxed by the minute! No matter how old you get, nothing beats coming home to Mom and Dad!
Shortly after we arrived, the rest of the Thornes pulled up - now we got ourselves a party! The Thornes headed to Pres'quile to set up their campsite while we ate supper and then we all headed over for s'mores. The girls were getting a little squirrley on the drive over so we played 'Lonely Goatheard' from the Sound of Music but changed all the words so it became a song about s'mores. That was a moment I wish we'd captured on video! We had a fun time around the campfire roasting and laughing and spiking our blood sugar levels but the mosquitos dictated when it was time to go so we drove back to G&G's and collapsed into bed. More country fun scheduled for tomorrow. Will Jack find a third wave coffee joint in Brighton ... tune in tomorrow to find out.
