July 28 - Last day in Toronto :'(
We headed off this morning for our second trip to Toronto Island - there was a lot that we didn't get to do when we were there w the cousins. Quadracycle, maze, splash pad, amusement park. We should have anticipated how the day was going to go based on the ferry ride over. So. Much. Bickering. As much as the girls looove each other, they are done with the togetherness. I am done with the togetherness. We need to get to CA and go in 5 directions for a few days. Absence is the only thing that will make these hearts grow fond again!
We rented the bike hoping that it would offer a distraction. It worked until it didn't. We checked off the splash pad and play ground but could not bring ourselves to stay for any more. I frantically texted our babysitter and begged her to come a little early. She arrived and took Natalie and Charlotte downstairs to play spies (God love her) and left Jacqui in her room with the door closed and the drapes drawn (if she could have slipped into a sensory deprivation tank, she would have).
I snuck out to meet Penny for one more drink before we head up to Blue Mounrain tomorrow for the big anniversary celebration! I sure have enjoyed reconnecting with my grrrrls!
Jack met me for dinner and took me to The Black Hoof for some Horse Tartare (I kid you not) and Pistachio Hummus and Chicken Livers ... 😨. He almost ordered the foie gras and French toast for dessert but realized that he couldn't eat it all by himself so wisely declined. His GI tract will live on to fight another day!
We said goodbye to Kayla and packed up a few things before collapsing into bed. We are now at week 4.5 of our trip and Jack is the only one still swinging. The rest of us are tapping the mat! Uncle ... UNCLE!!!
